According to the WeChat account of the General Administration of Customs of China today (Aug. 16), recently, after identification, Huanggang Customs seized three pieces of gold samples hidden in a passenger’s shoe at Futian Port, totaling 347.5 grams, with a preliminary value of over RMB 190,000.

When a female passenger was entering the customs hall of Futian Port, the customs officer noticed that she looked nervous and her pace was stiff, so she was immediately intercepted for inspection. It was found that there were three pieces of metal samples hidden in the shoes worn by the passenger. The Testing and Technology Center for Industrial Products of Shenzhen Customs confirmed that the above metal samples were full gold (gold content of more than 99%) products, totaling 347.5 grams.

The Customs reminds that individuals carrying gold and silver and their products into the country over 50 grams must report to the Customs and go through the relevant procedures.

According to Article 7 of Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Implementing Customs Administrative Penalty, the smuggling of goods and articles prohibited or restricted by the State from entry or exit, or goods or articles for which duties are payable according to law, by means of concealing, disguising, withholding, falsifying or otherwise evading the supervision of the Customs is a smuggling offense, and will be investigated and held legally liable.
